Cosmetic bonding is another way to improve the appearance of front teeth. It is often used in situations were a smaller, more conservative fix is needed. The bonding material is similar to what is used in a tooth colored filling.
Cosmetic bonding can be a good choice for teeth with:
- Chipped or worn edges
- Stains or discolored enamel
- White spots left after braces
- Closing gaps or spaces between teeth
Bonding is done in one appointment, often without anesthetic. Little or no preparatory drilling is needed prior to placement of the filling. Instead, a special adhesive is used to bond the filling material to the tooth. Hence the name of the procedure. They are relatively inexpensive, and once finished, they look great.
